Bill Rand, executive director of Business Analytics Initiative and associate professor of marketing, determines the type of person who should apply for a gas rewards credit card and the earning rates that warrant committing to a gas chain.
“Is there enough of that chain of gas stations near where the consumer travels that they can take advantage of these rewards regularly?,” asked Rand. “Moreover, they should consider whether the prices of that chain are close enough to the average price that the earnings rate is largely a pure bonus and they are not paying more for committing to one brand.”
