Roby Sawyers Receives American Taxation Association Outstanding Service Award

At the February 19 mid-year meeting, the American Taxation Association (ATA) presented Roby Sawyers, professor of accounting, with the 2020 ATA Outstanding Service Award. The award recognizes a career of distinguished service to the ATA.

“I am proud to receive this recognition from my peers and am grateful for the support of the accounting department and Poole College of Management in providing me with the time to devote to the ATA over the years,” said Sawyers

Over the last three decades, Sawyers served the ATA in a number of capacities including editor of the ATA Journal of Legal Tax Research, treasurer, trustee and chair or member of several committees including the ATA Midyear Meeting Planning Committee, the External Relations Committee, the joint ATA/AICPA Model Tax Curriculum Task Force, and the Tax Policy Oversight Committee.

“A well-deserved congratulations for Professor Roby Sawyers on the American Taxation Association’s Outstanding Service Award,” said Kathy Krawczyk, accounting department head. “Roby has a long, extended history of service to the ATA and other professional accounting organizations. In addition, Roby is a true leader for the department of accounting, the Poole College of Management, and NC State University. He is a valuable colleague, and our department and college is stronger because of him.”
