Poole College Office of Business Services Welcomes Allison Smith as Operations Assistant
NC State Poole College of Management recently welcomed Allison Smith as an operations assistant for the Office of Business Services. Smith previously worked as a temporary employee for the Office of Undergraduate Programs. She will be replacing Stephanie Jares after a competitive search process.
Prior to coming to NC State, Smith served as a user experience project manager for the Lenovo website in their Department of Sales and Customer Success. She also held roles in sales at SpokeHub and human resource solutions at Paychex.
In her role as operation assistant, Smith will primarily be supporting the Office of Undergraduate Programs and other college-wide requests and administrative tasks. This includes providing training for Poole employees for various procedures, coordinating human resource activities, conducting financial and procurement transactions, and providing frontline support for facilities issues. Smith will also be managing the team of student workers at the front desk of the undergraduate programs suite.
“For a space that experiences such a high volume of guests ranging from students, prospective students and their families, and donors, it was imperative that the candidate chosen for this role had excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to lead the staff responsible for providing a premier experience to all our students and visitors,” said Jonathan Hennessy, operations manager. “Allison is the perfect person for that role! We are very excited to see what Allison will be able to achieve in this role.”
I love the people and students in Poole. It is the best ‘company’ culture I have ever been a part of and that is what makes me want to stay.

Smith received a Bachelor of Science in communications with a concentration in public relations as well as a minor in sociology from Appalachian State University in 2016.
Outside of the office, Smith is an active volleyball player — indoor, grass and sand. She also enjoys going to the movies and any water sports including kayaking, boating, swimming and wakeboarding.
