Poole College’s Office of Business Services has recently added Doug Rowe to their team as a human resources (HR) specialist. Rowe is replacing Yolanda Sanders who retired from her role in December.
Throughout his decade-long career, Rowe has held several managerial positions across food, retail and furniture industries prior to coming to NC State. He has served as an assistant store manager, area manager, customer service manager and HR expert.
Doug helped us through a rough transition and has brought a wealth of external experience and a wonderful personality.

It’s been fun to watch him connect all the HR dots!”
In this role, Rowe will be providing guidance for all matters of HR including creating job postings, drafting offer letters, entering additional compensation requests, entering salary distribution changes and coordinating international visa needs. He will also independently develop and implement standard operating procedures such as staff hiring, student hiring and additional compensation.

“I first joined Poole College in the HR Specialist temporary role in November 2021, thinking I could learn more about the higher education HR field and grow more as an HR professional,” said Rowe. “When the full-time position became available, I took the interview and got the job. It’s been an adventure ever since. Everyone I have met along the way has been so supportive and friendly, it really has made my experience all the better.”
Rowe received his Associates in Arts degree from Seminor State College of Florida and is currently working towards his Bachelor of Arts in business administration from the University of Arizona online.
Outside of work, Rowe enjoys spending time with his family which includes his wife, Heidi, three cats and two dogs. He is a big movie buff with a specific interest in the horror genre.
