Poole College Recognizes Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from May

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

  • Jessica Moran, assistant director of academic programs for Jenkins MAC, and Jenkins MAC launched the Lifelong Learning inaugural event on May 20 with a virtual presentation by Mark Beasley.
  • Beth Shepherd, director of instructional design, presented at the AACSB Innovative Curriculum Conference on May 17 titled “Achieving Quality Course Design with Limited Time and Budget”. Additionally, Nichole Miller, assistant dean of Jenkins MBA Programs, presented “STEM Designated Business Degrees” at the conference on May 16.
  • Scott Showalter, professor of practice in accounting, was elected to the Board of Directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
  • With encouragement from Connie Fowler, Bev Porter, director of the Career Center for Jenkins Graduate Programs, made steps to build the Jenkins MBA brand at the global level through their association with MBA Career Services Employer Alliance.
  • Vikas Anand, associate dean for academic programs, spoke with the CEO and leadership team of Shurtape on neuroplasticity and the impact on decision making. 
  • On May 20, Steve Allen, professor of economics, presented his paper “Forever Young: Where Older Workers Keep on Working” to the National Bureau of Economic Research Conference in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • Pieter Verhallen, teaching assistant professor in marketing, presented on the main stage of the Boulder Summer Conference on Consumer Financial Decision-Making from May 15-17. 
  • Poole College will be represented by Pieter Verhallen, Jim Scalise, professor of practice in accounting, and Tamah Morant, teaching professor in economics. on the NC State Faculty Senate for a two-year term beginning in the fall semester.
