When Niki and Ritika Shamdasani found themselves in a bind looking for traditional Indian dresses for an upcoming wedding, they realized the need for modern South Asian cultural apparel in the U.S. Haley Huie, director of the NC State Entrepreneurship Clinic, sat down with the Sani founders to discuss their growth from formalwear to loungewear during the pandemic, finding a community that celebrates South Asian culture through social media and their time in the Andrews Launch Accelerator.

“Throughout that program [Andrews Launch Accelerator], I really appreciated the focus on fundamentals,” said Ritika Shamdasani. “Focus on the core of what makes up your business before thinking too broadly about the future because the future continuously changes.”

Poole College Startup Stories is a series that takes a look into businesses created by entrepreneurs, including NC State alumni.
