The New and Improved Nelson Hall
This summer Poole created collaboration spaces for faculty, staff and students
Poole College of Management, with the help of University Facilties, spent the summer making updates to Nelson Hall as well as plans for future collaboration sites. These changes not only improve the look of the building but also refresh the mindset of the Poole community.
Creating Collaboration
The Port City Java (PCJ) lounge on the second floor received a facelift over the summer with updated seating, charging stations and TVs as well as new floors and paint. This new configuration encourages collaboration between faculty, staff and students.
Additionally, seating has been added in hallways on each floor of Nelson Hall that allow students to study, meet up and relax before and after classes. More greenery and digital displays will be added throughout the fall semester
Departmental Suites
University Facilities replaced the carpeting in the Accounting, Business Management, Economics and Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship suites. In addition, they refreshed 29 faculty, staff and PhD student offices by replacing furniture, installing new carpeting and repainting offices.
Feminine Hygiene Dispensers
Poole moved forward with the installation and maintenance of feminine hygiene dispensers in all women’s and single-occupant restrooms in Nelson Hall.
IT Service Desk
Poole began construction on a new Information Technology (IT) Help Desk that will provide walk-up IT services for faculty, staff and students. The space has soft seating for the Poole community to enjoy.
Coming Soon
PCJ Printers
In addition to the newly designed PCJ lounge, Poole will be adding WolfCopy printers for students, faculty and staff to use.

The bottom floor of Nelson Hall currently houses the Pop-Up Study Space but will soon house the following:
- A 90-person high-tech, active learning classroom
- A 20-person functional space that can be used for study breakout sessions, events and overflow space
- A Bloomberg Terminal Classroom that will be relocated from D. H. Hill Library
- Two to three breakout meeting rooms that will be equipped with technology to allow for virtual meetings interviews
- Additional collaboration space for faculty, staff and students.
The basement renovations are projected to be finished during the spring 2024 semester.
