Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) an international business honor society housed in Poole College, hosted its 2023 induction ceremony in the Nelson Hall auditorium March 29. This year’s inductees include 69 undergraduate and graduate students as well as one faculty member who will serve as the chapter’s advisor.
“This year’s inductees have demonstrated their academic excellence in the covid era, the most challenging of times for higher education,” said Karlyn Mitchell, associate professor of finance and NC State Beta Gamma Sigma chapter advisor. “It was thrilling to celebrate their accomplishments in the induction ceremony with so many of their family members and friends present. Congratulations to these new Beta Gamma Sigma members!”

Founded in 1913, Beta Gamma Sigma is an organization dedicated to recognizing and honoring business students who strive to achieve the highest standards of academic excellence. As a lifelong organization, its mission to foster and encourage leadership and professional excellence among its members is supported by its values of honor and integrity, the pursuit of wisdom, earnestness and service.
With more than 600 collegiate chapters, as well as alumni chapters and networking groups all over the world, Beta Gamma Sigma is a truly global community with endless educational and career opportunities.
The NC State chapter was founded in 2001 with membership extended to juniors and seniors who are in the top 10% of their class, top 20% of master’s students, and all business doctoral students.
