Monique Merriweather-Yarborough Joins Poole to Lead Human Resources
Monique Merriweather-Yarborough has joined the Poole College of Management as a human resource consultant. She will be a part of the Office of Business Services and her office is located in Nelson 2112.
Merriweather-Yarborough is a dedicated human resource (HR) professional with over 18 years of professional experience in higher education, finance, healthcare and non-profit. Her most recent position was at NC State as a consultant in HR Benefits.
Merriweather-Yarborough’s expert areas of HR include: benefits, classification and compensation, recruitment and hiring, employee relations, performance management, career planning, leadership, talent acquisition and policy interpretation. She has received two HR certifications as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and as a Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP).
As a human resource consultant, Merriweather-Yarborough will be responsible for providing leadership, consultation and guidance to all Poole College administrators, faculty and staff regarding HR administration. Along with Yolanda Sanders, human resources specialist, she will serve as the primary central resource for human resources guidance, policies and procedures, and best practices for the college.
“I decided to join the Poole College of Management (PCOM) for two reasons,” said Merriweather-Yarborough. “The first is because of the reputation that the college has within the university and the standards of expectation of the staff. Secondly, PCOM is a college that supports its staff in their work.”
Merriweather-Yarborough is a graduate of the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill where she received a bachelor of arts in psychology. She also received her master’s degree in human resources from Western Carolina University.
Outside of work, Merriweather-Yarborough enjoys shopping, traveling with family and working on DIY projects around her house. When time allows, she likes to volunteer at SAFEchild with the Welcome Baby Program that was established in 1992 by the Junior League of Raleigh with a mission to eliminate child abuse in Wake County.
“Monique’s new role for the college is to help develop and implement efficient and effective HR processes for the college,” said Maggie Merry, the assistant dean of finance and administration. “She will also help problem-solve and innovatively think about HR issues across the college. We’re very excited to have this strategic role for the college.”
Please join the Office of Business Services for a meet and greet with Monique Merriweather-Yarborough on Friday, Oct. 25 at 11:30 a.m. in Nelson 2405. It will be immediately followed by the update on open enrollment at noon.
