Eda Kemahlioglu-Ziya on the Sustainability of Shipping from Stores Post-COVID

Many brick-and-mortar stores have become distribution and fulfillment centers amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Eda Kemahlioglu-Ziya, associate professor of operations and supply chain management, discusses if this new business model makes sense for the long-term in the post-COVID world.
“A lot of these online channels were added as an afterthought to the brick-and-mortar channel,” said Kemahlioglu-Ziya. “Stores are not always set up to pick up these items from shelves and wrap them and put them in the mail.”
