Poole College Recognizes Faculty and Staff Accomplishments from June

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

  • On June 7, Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, facilitated a panel for the Food and Drug Administration virtual workshop, Building Medical Device Supply Chain Resilience: A Healthcare and Public Health Ecosystem-Wide Collaboration.
  • Daisoon Kim, assistant professor of economics, presented his paper “Aggregate Fluctuations from Clustered Micro Shocks” at the North American Summer Meetings of the Econometric Society at the University of Miami. 
  • Brad Kirkman, professor of leadership, was elected as one of 250 fellows of the Academy of Management, a professional association for management and organization scholars.
  • Andy Nowel, senior lecturer in economics, was just appointed chair of the advisory board for the Hillsborough St/NC State Branch of the State Employees Credit Union.
  • Denis Pelletier, professor of economics, presented a paper titled “Price Duration and Sign-Based Variance and Covariance Estimation” at the CIREQ Montreal Econometrics Conference in honor of Eric Renault.
  • At the North Carolina Association of CPAs Summer Leadership Conference hosted by NC State, Scott Showalter, professor of practice in accounting, moderated four sessions.
  • Rob Sandruck, director of global programs, presented at the Association of International Educators (NAFSA) conference with colleagues from the Universidad de San Andrés (Argentina) and WU-Vienna University of Economics and Management (Austria) on “Building Resilient Partnerships to Develop Innovative COILS (Collaborative Online International Learning), which focused on the creation of the Global Seminar Series and the impact it provided students for global engagement during the pandemic.
  • Jessica Thomas, director of the Business Sustainability Collaborative, received Quality Matters Certification for MBA 582, Sustainability in Business. Additionally, on June 7, she presented a talk to the Stanford Alumni Network of the Triangle, “Business as a Force for Good.”
  • Ira Weiss, professor of strategic management, recently returned from Rabat, Morocco where he chaired the inaugural meeting of the International Advisory Committee of the Rabat Business School. He was joined by deans from Sweden, Western Australia, Italy, France and China.
  • Jenn Woodhull-Smith, lecturer, was invited to be on the advisory board at Activate Good.
