Poole College students, faculty, staff and supporters gathered on Jan. 25 for the college’s annual Scholarship Reception. The event is designed to celebrate the college’s student scholarship winners and recognize the donors whose support makes the awards possible.

More than 200 Poole College students received financial assistance this academic year, and 18 new scholarships were established in 2023 alone.

“We are grateful to all of you who invest in making a difference through our students,” Dean Frank Buckless said at the event. “Your generous support provides our students with access to a superior education that enables them to pursue their passions and creates lasting results for our community.”

Buckless also congratulated the student scholarship recipients, saying, “Your selection for these distinguished awards is a recognition of your hard work and potential. You are a vital part of our Poole Pack community, and we are immensely proud of your achievements.”

The evening celebration included a panel discussion moderated by senior accounting major and Poole Student Advisory Board President Julianna Lopez. Panelists Mike Constantino (Business Management ’84, Accounting ’85), LT Frederick (Business Management ’99), Oliver Brooks (Business Management ’07) and Trish Wilson, a former Poole parent, discussed the importance of investing in student scholarships and shared personal experiences that highlight the impact of scholarships on students’ lives.

“We firmly believe in the accessibility of higher education for all aspiring minds and acknowledge the financial challenges it often entails,” Buckless said. “Scholarship support is crucial in enhancing our capacity to open doors for bright and deserving students.”
