From grocery prices to clothing and computers, economists say President Trump’s tariffs will take a toll. Poole professor Andrew Greenland says we can expect higher prices on all kinds of everyday items including clothing, shoes, imported groceries and technology, in addition to larger purchases like cars.
“There are going to be price hikes very, very soon if they’re not already here,” Greenland said. “You could be looking at close to doubling of prices in some types of goods that are coming out of China. We’re also entering a time of year when we’re going to be importing a lot of fruits and vegetables as well. Grocery store prices are going to spike.”
