A paper recently published by Health Management, Policy and Innovation (HMPI) highlights a study conducted by Stacy Wood, Langdon Distinguished University Professor of Marketing in the Poole College of Management. The study examines how subscription-based models—commonly used in entertainment and consumer services—can be adapted for healthcare and medicine to improve access, affordability, and treatment adherence.
It explores different implementations, such as government-pharma agreements and direct-to-consumer health plans, while evaluating their potential benefits and challenges. The study aims to understand whether this model can create more sustainable and equitable healthcare delivery systems.
