Nathan Goldman Answers Burning Stimulus Payment Questions on Fox 8 Greensboro

Nathan Goldman, assistant professor of accounting, appeared on Fox 8 Greensboro on April 15 and April 21 to discuss the impending stimulus payments from the U.S. Department of Treasury. Goldman previously spoke on the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act passed on March 25 for the Poole Business Guide.

Goldman’s Q&A segment on Fox 8 ranged from questions on taxes taken on the stimulus payment, how the IRS determines your income and if dependents should file taxes separately to receive payment.

“The stimulus is an advance on a tax credit the tax payer is to receive for their 2020 income tax, so because of the tax credit it does not meet the definition of income [taxes] which means the funds received will not be subject to income taxation,” said Goldman.
