Podcast Highlights Poole Professor’s Teen Mental Health Research

In a recent episode of the Freakonomics Radio podcast, host Stephen J. Dubner highlighted the research of Poole professor Adriana Corredor Waldron, specifically her study titled “To What Extent Are Trends in Teen Mental Health Driven by Changes in Reporting?” The discussion centered on the sharp rise in anxiety and depression amongst young people.

In her co-authored article, Waldron pointed out, “The rising reports of suicidal behaviors in children and adolescents have led to the recognition of a youth mental health crisis. However, these reported rates can be influenced by factors such as access to screening, changes in reporting conventions, and shifts in social stigma.”
