Noel Greis, PhD
Research Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management, Department of Business Management
Noel Greis, PhD is an expert in global logistics and supply-chain management. She advises companies on the application of new Internet-based supply and distribution strategies within their organizations. Her research on logistics, global operations strategy, technology management and technology commercialization has won several awards. Most recently, Greis was the co-director of the UNC-Tsinghua Center for Logistics and Enterprise Development (CLED) and director of the Center for Logistics and Digital Strategy at UNC's Kenan-Flagler Business School. She received her doctorate degree in engineering from Princeton University.
Ayse Kabukcuoglu-Dur, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Economics
Ayse Kabukcuoglu-Dur, PhD joined NC State from the Koç University, İstanbul, Turkey, where she was assistant professor of economics from 2013 to 2018. Her fields of specialization include international macroeconomics, macroeconomics and monetary economics, and computational economics. She previously had visiting professor and research roles at the University of Texas. In 2012, she completed a doctoral internship with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute. Kabukcuoglu-Dur received her doctorate degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Ilze Kalnina, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Economics
Ilze Kalnina, PhD focus on econometrics and researches nonparametric estimation and inference for volatility with high frequency data. Prior to joining NC State, Kalnina was an assistant professor at the University of Montreal. Kalnina received a doctorate degree in economics from the London School of Economics.
Elena Kulchina, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Elena Kulchina, PhD focuses her research at the intersection of strategic management, entrepreneurship, and international business. Her areas of research are foreign and domestic entrepreneurs, management of entrepreneurial and multinational ventures, and strategy and geography. Kulchina's work has been published in Management Science and the Strategic Management Journal, and she serves on the editorial boards of the Strategic Management Journal and the Academy of Management Review. Kulchina was previously an assistant professor at Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. She received her doctorate degree in strategic management from the University of Toronto.
Monica DeLima Nogueira, PhD
Research Associate Professor of Operations and Supply Chain Management, Department of Business Management
Monica Nogueira, PhD joined NC State after serving as director of the Digital Enterprise & Innovation Laboratory at the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise. She has published a number of papers in the areas of food safety and public health which report and promote the use of answer set planning and programming technology to solve search and scheduling problems, as well as papers in the use of RFID technology for cargo security and security of personal identification documents. Nogueira received a doctorate degree in computer engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso.
Rishika Rishika, PhD
Assistant Professor of Marketing, Department of Business Management
Rishika Rishika’s research focuses on econometric modeling of consumer and firm decision-making. Her main research interests lie in the area of social media analytics, multi-channel retailing, online communities and marketing and public policy. Her research has been published in top-tier journals such as Management Science, Journal of Marketing and Information Systems Research. Prior to joining NC State, Rishika was on the faculty at the Mays Business School, Texas A&M University and at the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Rishika received her doctorate degree in marketing at the University of California, Irvine.
Robert Whited, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting
Robert Whited's research interest focuses on the role of the auditor in efficient capital markets, applied econometrics in accounting research, costs and benefits of financial reporting regulation, and economic incentives influencing auditor selection and auditor performance. He is a certified public accountant in North Carolina and previously worked as an auditor with EY. Before coming to NC State, Whited was an assistant professor of accounting at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. Prior to that, he was a research and teaching assistant at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, where he received his doctorate degree in accounting.
Richard Barnes
Lecturer, Department of Accounting
Richard Barnes joined NC State with a rich combination of corporate and higher education experience. He started his career as a tax associate for Arthur Anderson before owning and operating a Jackson Hewitt franchise. He began teaching in 2006, most recently at UNC Pembroke. Barnes received a Master of Accountancy and Juris Doctor degrees from the Unviersity of South Carolina, as well as a Master of Laws (LLM) degree, with a concentration in tax law, from the University of Alabama.
Tom Dow
Lecturer, Department of Accounting
Tom Dow joined NC State with 25 years of corporate experience. He started his career as an auditor for KPMG and then transitioned to corporate finance and accounting roles including manager of financial planning & analysis corporate controller, and most recently as the chief financial officer of Cormetech. After completing the sale of Cormetech, Dow decided to pursue a lifelong goal of teaching. Dow received a Master of Accounting degree from the University of Connecticut.
George Habek
Lecturer of Business Analytics, Department of Business Management
George Habek came to NC State with more than 25 years’ experience in the areas of data processing, database marketing, statistical analysis in an academic setting, and in consulting and corporate work with the latest SAS products. Habek has published papers at the SAS Global Forum on the topic of disease and health care analytics, and predictive asset maintenance. Prior to joining NC State, Habek was a senior training consultant in the education practice at SAS Institute. He received a Master of Science degree in applied statistics from the University of Chicago.
Missy Makanui
Lecturer in Management, Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Missy Makanui brought to the NC State classroom more than 25 years of industry experience in leadership, strategy and organizational development. Most recently, Makanui was the director of leadership development for SAS Institute. Her experience includes designing, delivering, assessing and managing a variety of development programs in the software, academic, non-profit, hospitality, pharmaceutical and aerospace industries. Makanui received her master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Rakesh Ravi
Research Assistant Professor, Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Rakesh Ravi joined the Poole College of Management as a research assistant professor and data scientist for the college's Center for Innovation Management Studies, where he is working on an Open Source Natural Language Processing platform for the American Coating Association. He previously worked as a software developer for Tecnotree, a Finnish technology company. Ravi received his master's degree in Computer Networking from NC State University.
