Poole College Faculty and Staff Accomplishments for April, May and June
The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management. Faculty and staff have come together to finish the spring semester on a high note and celebrate the graduating class of 2020 as a college.
April
- Beta Gamma Sigma virtually inducted 45 new members to the international business honors society as well as faculty member Turanay Caner, associate professor.
- Noel Greis and Monica Nogueira represented Poole College at the spring symposium for the American Association of Artificial Intelligence and received “Best Paper” for their research, Physics-Guided Machine Learning for Self-Aware Machining.
- Poole College of Management announced the recipients and nominees for faculty awards including the Teaching Excellence Award, the Research and Leadership Award and the Research Growth and Innovation Award.
- Jessica Thomas won the Duke Fuqua School of Business Alumni Award, an award for alumni who have made an impact in Fuqua and in their own communities.
- Eileen Taylor becomes the first NC State faculty member to earn the Quality Matters (QM) Essentials Recognition for her course, MBA 510: Critical Thinking for Managers.
- Poole College celebrated the NC State Awards for Excellence recipients, Robert Sandruck and Terry Price, as well as fellow nominated staff members: Beth Shepherd, Jenny Hammond, Kimberly Whitfield, Susan Ebbs and Tayah Butler.
- Seven faculty members were recognized for promotions within Poole College for their amazing scholarship, teaching and service contributions.
May
- The fourth cohort of Summer Research Award nominations were released highlighting the outstanding research productivity of tenured and tenure-track faculty in top tier journals.
- Poole College celebrated the graduating class of 2020 with an online, college-wide celebration highlighting the accomplishments of our students.
June
- Nathan Goldman represented Poole College at the 6th annual Berlin-Vallendar Conference on Tax Research as he presented his study “Executive Compensation, Individual-Level Tax Rates, and Insider Trading Profits”.
- Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) Research Advisory Board awarded Joseph Brazel a $24,800 grant for his proposed study “False Positives vs. Hit Rates: Does the Framing of Data Analytic Calibration Affect Auditor Skepticism?” he collaborate on with Tammie Schaefer, associate professor of accounting from the University of Missouri at Kansas City.
- Faculty and staff of Poole College raised over $16,000 for the Student Emergency Fund, the most donations from any college.
- Roger Mayer recently participated in a panel at the virtual North Carolina Technology Association’s Diversity + Inclusion Summit discussing the benefits of companies implementing and embracing diversity initiatives.
