In the recent weeks, Wall Street and the world have watched as markets swing high and low, leaving many wondering what may be next. Richard Warr, the associate dean for faculty research and Poole professor of finance, says a large movement in the market is not out of the ordinary.
“The market will move around when there’s a lot of uncertainty. I’d say the during the COVID pandemic, there was a lot of uncertainty about what does the future hold and we saw big fluctuations in the market,” he said. “Then back in 2008, which was a while ago, but then we had the housing kind of collapse where a lot of house prices fell dramatically and that had ripple effects throughout the economy.”
