Xiaoyong Zheng, professor of agriculture and resource economics, co-authored research that examines the use of the “Spot Check List” the extent of crop insurance losses and provides insights on effectiveness.
“Using proprietary, county-level SCL data and panel data econometric procedures, we find evidence that counties with more producers included in the SCL tend to have better actuarial performance after these producers are informed about their listing on the SCL,” said Zheng and his co-authors.
