Investment Portfolio Challenge

Think you can make money in the market? Let's see.

Working in groups of 3-5, students, you will receive an initial virtual budget of 5,000,000£ (British Pounds) that your group will invest across several securities of their own choosing (e.g. stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, etc). You will be competing with other teams from Poole College of Management and the University of Surrey Business School (United Kingdom).

To participate, students must register in advance. Each team member should register individually (and identify your team name). The competition will be conducted on StockTrak, an online virtual investment tool where teams will place their trades and keep track of the overall portfolio performance.

The Global Investment Portfolio Challenge starts on February 28, 2022 at 4 pm (UK time) and ends on May 05, 2022 at 4 pm.

Your team is on its own. Faculty will not provide guidance or assistance. It is all your effort!

You need to do your research and construct your own portfolio.

You need to allocate the assigned budget across several categories of securities. No restrictions on the asset class. All tradable assets are permitted.

It is all virtual, but asset prices are updated in real-time with real quoted prices.

All transactions are recorded on the Stocktrak, so teams can keep track of securities
purchases/sales!

You have a budget of 5,000,000 £. Note: no withdrawals nor cash additions.

Groups can include a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 students.

Open to undergraduate students only

The portfolio must be comprised of at least 3 assets throughout the specified period. Re-allocation of assets is permitted.

The group with the highest realized Sharpe ratio (at the end of the challenge) wins.
