Poole College of Management Celebrates the Accomplishments of Faculty and Staff in May

The monthly accomplishments series celebrates the achievements of our faculty and staff in and outside of the Poole College of Management.

  • Ira Weiss, professor of strategic management, has been appointed to the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee effective July 1 and also serves as the chair of the Calvert Sports Foundation.
  • Rob Handfield, professor of operations and supply chain management, was selected to be one of four witnesses for a congressional hearing evaluating the personal protective equipment (PPE) supply chain and the gaps in responses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Michael Dixon, associate director of admissions and recruitment for Jenkins MBA Program, is now a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer.
  • Tim Kraft, assistant professor of operations and supply chain management, and his co-authors were named finalists for the 2021 M&SOM Best Paper Award for their paper “Supply Chain Visibility and Social Responsibility: Investigating Consumers’ Behaviors and Motives”.
  • Bill Rand, associate professor of marketing, presented a keynote address on adversarial social media at a workshop on “The Dynamics of Socio-Cultural Polarization: Role of Information & Communication Technologies” hosted by the Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad.
  • B Lab has announced Jessica Thomas, director of the Business Sustainability Collaborative, as one of four who have been appointed by B Lab’s Board of Directors to join B Lab’s main Standards Advisory Council. At the core of B Lab’s work is a set of rigorous performance-based principles and standards designed to differentiate high performing mission-driven companies as Certified B Corporations. 
  • Bradley Kirkman, professor of leadership, was just elected to the five-year leadership track for the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management. The Organizational Behavior Division is the largest of 26 divisions of the Academy of Management with over 5,500 members from around the world. He will serve from August 15, 2021, through August 14, 2026. 
  • Noel Greis, research professor of operations and supply chain management, was selected as a finalist in the 2021 NSF Manufacturing Blue Skies Competition. The goal of the competition is to identify visionary ideas for manufacturing of the future and Greis presented “From Self-Aware to Self-Healing for ‘Perpetual’ Manufacturing”.
  • Heidi Echols, instructional designer, and Beth Shepherd, director of instructional design, presented at the Online Lilly Teaching Conference this May on “10 Things Successful Instructors Do in Their LMS”.
