Tim Kraft, associate professor of operations and supply chain management, explains how the recent pileup on I-95 from a winter storm was caused by the shortage of snowplow drivers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“A dearth of snowplow drivers is endemic of the larger worker shortage nationally across industries from the service sector to truck drivers due to COVID-19 and the number of people unable to work due to illness or who have just decided to retire,” said Kraft.
