Mentor / Mentee Program

Coming to a completely new country and school can be difficult at times. In order to make the transition into American culture, NC State and Poole College easier, the office will pair you with a current Poole student to be a resource for you.

Before arriving to campus, you will receive an email with your mentors name and contact information. Feel free to ask them anything and everything about life in the United States, courses, social norms, etc. as you prepare to come to NC State. Your mentor will also have your contact information and may reach out to you as well.

You will have the chance to meet your mentor at a pizza party event we host every semester, and you will also have the chance to attend an athletic game with your mentor.

What is a mentor?

A mentor is a person who can guide you, give you advice, listen, and many other things. Your mentor will be able to help you adjust to NC State and give you a guide to student life here. They’ll be able to tell you where to go grocery shopping, what their favorite restaurants are, how to request a student ticket for football games and so much more.

What do you have to do as a mentee?

As a mentee you will be able to ask a lot of questions and be open to feedback and new experiences. Your mentor is one of your best resources and connections to Poole, NC State and Raleigh. You should reach out to your mentor, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
