Scott serves as RSM’s national lead for tax services to the Specialty Finance Industry. Scott joined RSM US LLP in 2002 as a member of the national tax office. In May 2004, he joined the Raleigh based tax practice.

Scott has more than 30 years of experience assisting public and closely held businesses in a number of industries. He has significant mergers and acquisitions experience that includes structuring transactions and assisting with the economic and tax due diligence process. He is known for identifying creative and cost-effective tax planning strategies for his clients.

Prior to joining RSM US LLP, Scott was employed by a Big Four firm where his clients included venture capital, software, internet, and pharmaceutical companies. Scott also held a senior-level management position in the tax functions of a Fortune 150 company and started and managed the tax function for a publicly traded, multinational software and data hosting company (that was ultimately acquired for $1.4 billion).

Scott’s currently serves corporations, closely held S corporations, and complex partnerships. Most of his clients have multi state and/or international operations. He continues to be heavily involved in services to public companies (i.e. ASC 740 work) and has consulted on numerous M&A and transaction projects. Scott has served on various industry and professional committees and is a frequent speaker on tax issues.
