International Experiences

  • 2026 Maymester: Investments and Portfolio Management – Piacenza, Italy (Faculty-led)
  • Maymester: Leeds – United Kingdom (Faculty-led)

What inspired you to lead a study abroad program?

It started with wanting to share the experience with my children rather than being away for three weeks. But once I began planning, I realized how exciting it would be to design an immersive learning environment for students outside the traditional classroom.

Why do you enjoy teaching abroad with students?

The intensive format allows me to get to know a smaller group of students exceptionally well. Shared travel, daily academic engagement, and cultural experiences create a deeper learning community than what’s possible in a standard semester.

What are you most excited about for the upcoming program?

Exploring Italy for the first time. I’m looking forward to discovering Piacenza alongside the students and learning right along with them.

What can students expect to learn from this experience?

Academically, we’ll dive into foundational ideas about financial markets and investments—concepts that help students understand how global finance operates. Culturally, students will gain firsthand exposure to how business works in an international context while experiencing daily life in Italy.

What advice would you give to students preparing to study abroad?

From my Leeds program, I’d recommend taking advantage of free weekends to explore. I visited Edinburgh and found it to be one of the most memorable places I’ve ever been—rich in history, atmosphere, and stunning views.

How does international experience enhance a student’s business education or career prospects?

Employers value international experience because it signals adaptability, curiosity, and the ability to navigate unfamiliar environments. These are essential skills in today’s global business world.

How is your course different when taught abroad?

The shorter, intensive format creates a unique learning dynamic. Students engage more deeply and consistently, and the blend of academic content with cultural experiences makes the course feel directly connected to real-world business.

Why You Should Go!

Be ready for a fast-paced, immersive experience that blends finance, culture, and personal growth. Studying investments in Italy offers not only academic rigor but also unforgettable opportunities to explore, connect, and expand your global perspective.
