Class & Major: Senior in Business Administration – Marketing Program: Fall 2023 Semester – University of Seoul, South Korea Memories from abroad: “I had the opportunity to work as a Global Lounge Tutor during the semester I was abroad. Each week I would hold a Topic Discussion class to encourage my native Korean peers to practice their English. I subsequently became really close with my students so during the last session, they surprised me with a cake and farewell present. They told me that they felt more confident in their English speaking skills due to my class. Knowing that I left such a big impact on them is a memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

Class & Major: Junior in Business Administration – IT Program: Summer – Argentina: Marketing Methods in Buenos Aires Reasons for studying abroad: “I decided to study abroad in Argentina to step out of my comfort zone, experience its rich culture, and improve my Spanish skills. Living in a country with such a unique history and vibrant traditions gave me the chance to practice Spanish daily, while navigating the challenges of the local accent and slang.”

Class & Major: Senior in Business Administration – Finance Program: Summer- South Korea: IT & Operations in Seoul Reasons for studying abroad: “Studying abroad is a great outlet to make friends with those from your school as well as native people! It provides valuable knowledge through experiences that can’t be replicated outside of the experience. I loved that it offered a lot of traveling opportunities as well as networking. The opportunity I joined especially provided a lot of insight into the fields of IT and Supply chain Operations which was a major part of my choosing to study abroad. Living outside of your own culture is a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone that will listen.”

Class & Major: Sophomore in Business Administration Program: Summer – Australia: Entrepreneurship and Business Opportunity in Adelaide Memories from abroad: “I made a lot of really close friendships and connections while studying in Australia that I still have here in Raleigh. If I had to choose one memory that really stood out to me, it would be when our group took a trip to Kangaroo Island for a weekend and saw some of the most beautiful beaches and national parks that I have ever been to. Getting to pet kangaroos at the nature reserve was also an awesome experience.”

Class & Major: Junior in Business Administration – Marketing Program: Summer- Argentina: Marketing Methods in Buenos Aires Professional benefits of studying abroad: “We visited and heard from about 3 companies on my study abroad trip. My favorite was Inti-Tea, I’m not a tea drinker but the CEO put a lot of thought process, creativity and innovation into making those herbal drinks. It made me realize that business is not just about “what sells”, but what brings “you and others joy”!”

Class & Major: Senior in Business Administration – Entrepreneurship Program: Prague Connect; Semester- Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Spain Advice for studying abroad: “Plan ahead! Sometimes we think we will just “figure things out when we get there” but once you arrive, everything comes at you at once from living in the new culture, wanting to travel, meet people, etc. You want to make sure you have time for all of the things you want to do, but also time to take care of yourself and your own needs.”

I had to learn to do things in a different way from what I was used to. It was hard at first, but eventually I found myself really enjoying the switch from my normal life.”

Class & Major: Senior in Business Administration – Marketing and Communications – Public Relations Program: Spring 2024 Semester – Vienna University of Business and Economics Reasons to join Global Corps: “Those five transformative months of studying abroad represented one of the most vulnerable periods of my life. This vulnerability fostered the greatest personal growth I’ve known. Facilitating even one individual’s decision to commit to this experience through the inspiring and supportive nature of Global Corps, this wonderful organization, would be immensely rewarding and a true honor!”

Class & Major: Sophomore in Business Administration – Finance and Accounting Program: South Korea – Operations Management and Information Systems Management Memories from abroad: “During one of our first weeks abroad Hanyang University held a weeklong school festival with cheerleading, school bands, game shows, and even K-pop groups performing! Some days we had to sit for hours to keep our seats but it was amazing to see all the ways Korean schools show spirit differently than we do in America! This was such a unique experience that helped us learn more about Korean culture, but especially helped us on the trip get to know each other better, and has become one of my favorite memories from studying abroad!”

Class & Major: Junior in Economics, Minor in Accounting Program: Summer 2024 – Internship in Seville, Spain Challenges of study abroad: “If you have any doubts of studying abroad, you should do it anyways. Being nervously excited is the best way to approach being abroad and allows you to be cautious while being eager to learn, eat, and see new things! Of course if you have any questions or concerns, you should contact Poole Global Management and they will help you.”

Class & Major: Junior in Accounting Program: Spring 2024 Semester – Prague University of Economics and Business Advice for students: “A piece of advice for future study abroad participants that I would give would be to document as much of your journey as possible, whether it be through pictures, journaling, or saving mementos such as train tickets or brochures. Studying abroad is an incredible experience that is once in a lifetime, and it is important to remember and reflect upon your adventures.”
