About Todd Olson and Erik Troan

Erik Troan is co-founder and chief technology officer of Pendo, a venture-backed software company headquartered in downtown Raleigh. Erik started his career at Red Hat, where he worked as its first engineer and led the engineering team through the development of Linux, RPM and Anaconda and eventually, the company’s IPO. He later led product marketing at Red Hat and assisted in the acquisition and integration of nine other companies. Erik went on to found rPath in 2005, which sold to SAS in 2012. Erik earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from NC State University and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia.

Todd Olson is co-founder and CEO of Pendo, a product cloud that helps product teams deliver software customers love. A three-time entrepreneur, Todd has experienced the highs and lows of running fast-growth technology companies. His first venture-backed startup shut down during the dotcom era; his second was sold to Rally Software, where he stayed on as Vice President of Products through its IPO. His third is Pendo, which he founded with fellow product leaders and technologists from Red Hat, Cisco and Google in Raleigh in October 2013. The team has raised $106 million in venture capital, landed nearly 1200 customers and now employs more than 360 people across six offices around the world. It was named to the Forbes Cloud 100 and Next Billion-Dollar Startups lists in 2018 as well as an Inc. Best Workplace and Triangle Business Journal Best Place to Work in 2019.

About Pendo

Pendo was founded in 2013 when alumni from Rally, Google, Cisco, and Red Hat combined their heads and hearts to build something they wanted but never had as product managers — a simple way to understand and act on what truly drives product success.

User insight. User guidance. User communication. With Pendo, product teams can understand product usage, collect feedback, measure NPS, onboard users, and announce new features in app—all without requiring engineering resources. Pendo is on a mission to improve society’s experience with software, and that begins with a passionate and diverse team.

Proudly founded in North Carolina but engineered to scale globally without losing that soul.
