The NC State Business Analytics Certificate equips professionals with advanced business analytics and data-driven decision-making skills. Through hands-on learning and applied practicum experiences, students gain the tools and techniques needed to analyze large datasets, solve business challenges and support strategic decision-making across industries.

This certificate program is best for early- and mid-career professionals seeking to strengthen their expertise in business analytics, data analysis and decision-making while gaining practical experience with real-world business applications.

Typically completed in less than 2 years. Must complete within 4 years.

Open to all non-degree-seeking students and NC State graduate students.

Curriculum

To earn the NC State Business Analytics Certificate, students complete 12 credit hours* focused on business analytics, big data and data-driven decision-making.

*One credit hour represents approximately one hour of direct faculty instruction (delivered in person or online) and at least two hours of additional student work per week.

IMPORTANT: The courses below provide an overview of the program’s breadth, but specific program requirements can change. As this publicly-available list is updated a limited number of times annually, current students should contact their academic advisor for the most up-to-date course information.

Students should have taken MBA 506 Data Driven Managerial Decisions 1(1 hr) and MBA 507 Data Driven Managerial Decisions 2 (1 hr) in order to successfully complete this certificate.

Students can select one of the following practicum course options, provided the project they complete in the course has an analytic focus.  Students will need approval from the certificate director before enrolling in one of these courses for analytic certificate credit.
