2021 New Faculty

Meet the extraordinary new teachers and researchers who joined the Poole College faculty in 2021.

Brian Brosnan

Title/Program: Lecturer, Department of Business Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management,

Education: Master of Business Administration from Pepperdine University.  

Classes Taught: Supply Chain Practicum

Industry Experience: Brosnan spent 15 years at Accenture in supply chain management consulting across multiple industries and 12 years in supply chain management leadership roles at multiple global companies.

Why I Chose Poole College: “Poole’s focus on real-world curriculum enables me to apply my operations and supply chain experience in the academic setting.”

Pieter Verhallen

Title/Program: Teaching Assistant Professor, Department of Business Management, Marketing

Education: Ph.D. in marketing, Maastricht University

Industry Experience: Prior to entering academia, Verhallen founded, managed, sold and supported various digital and fast-moving consumer goods startups conducting business with stakeholders in over 70 countries. He has served on the boards of a number of social enterprises and – at the intersection of business and academia – has been passionately coaching international business case competition teams to finalist placements around the world. 

Why I Chose Poole College: “I was originally drawn to Poole College of Management due to the college’s strong global reputation in both business academics and business education, but the excellent and friendly faculty sealed the deal.”

Carissa Malone

Title/Program: Assistant Professor, Department of Accounting

Education: Ph.D. in accounting and information systems, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, spring 2022.

Industry Experience: Malone also brings industry experience as she has worked in auditing and accounting compliance across various industries including non-profit, oil and gas, consulting, and retail.

Why I Chose Poole College: “I chose to work at Poole College because I believe the college places the right amount of emphasis on both research and teaching. In addition, I believe the college’s emphasis on industry engagement puts the college in the position to increase its already strong reputation. I’m excited to be a part of the college’s growth!”

Chris Littel

Title/Program: Lecturer, Department of Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Human Resources

Education: Master of Arts in international economics, Johns Hopkins University

Industry Experience: Littel started his own business in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he helped create a unique corporate startup at Johnson & Johnson. He left Johnson & Johnson in 2010 to help leverage his startup knowledge by leading sales and marketing for three venture-backed startups over five years. In 2014, Littel started his own consulting firm to work with startups while becoming a full-time lecturer in management and entrepreneurship at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.

Why I Chose Poole College: “The MIE department is collegial, welcoming and very supportive with exceptional professors in research and the classroom. I am honored and very excited to join the college full-time this fall.”

Luca David Opromolla

Title/Program: Owens Professor of International Economics

Education: Bachelor of Arts in economics, Bocconi University; Master of Arts and PhD in economics, New York University

Industry Experience: Opromolla brings a discipline in theoretical and applied contributions to the fields of international trade, migration, labor economics, industrial organization and public economics to his role.

Why I Chose Poole College: “The economics department at Poole College, jointly with the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, offered a unique opportunity to develop the area of international economics. The presence of serious researchers in both departments, as well as the collaboration with the other universities in the triangle, were a guarantee of rigorous research and effective teaching.”
