Q: Why did you choose the Alexander Hamilton Scholars program?
A: I knew that I was interested in international business when I was applying to college and found out about the program while looking at NC State. I always planned on double majoring and applying for AHS if I decided to go to State.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the program?
A: I love connecting with like-minded people regularly through the program and enjoy the opportunities that we have to network with people who share those internationally-focused business interests.
Q: What has been your favorite Alexander Hamilton Scholars event? Why?
A: The alumni panels are my favorite events, because it is both interesting and exciting to learn about the variety of accomplishments and experiences that people who used to be in the same position were able to achieve post-grad.
Q: What was your favorite thing about studying abroad?
A: Immersing myself into a completely new culture was the best part of studying abroad since it is so different than just learning about it all from home. The ability to meet people from all over the world and build connections with them was amazing.
Q: Were you surprised by anything during your time abroad?
A: I was surprised by the differences in priorities that the Europeans had in everyday life. They definitely seem to make time for socialization throughout the day a lot more than we do in the US.
Q: Did you explore any other locations while you were studying abroad?
A: Yes! I visited Lisbon, Prague, Milan, Tenerife, Morocco, Lanzarote, Venice, Munich, Salzburg, Florence, Rome, Dubrovnik, Geneva, Lagos, Colmar, the Black Forest area of Germany and Ibiza.
Q: What did studying abroad teach you about yourself?
A: I definitely became a lot more confident in who I am as a person while living abroad and also learned how many opportunities there are for my life outside of the typical structure I always thought I needed to follow.
Q: How has being a part of the program prepared you for your future career?
A: AHS has opened my eyes to so many different possibilities when it comes to a career and helped me understand the value of the interdisciplinary approach to school. It has taught me how to apply that perspective to a successful professional career.
Q: What advice do you have for future Alexander Hamilton scholars students?
A: Take advantage of all the events and networking opportunities and become involved in leadership if you can!
