Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, Minor in Spanish

Why did you choose to study abroad?
I wanted to experience a new place and culture and since Finance is my concentration, this new program and location worked out perfectly!

How did your study abroad experience prepare you for your future career?
I got to take a class about international finance while I was in a new culture, this helped me in my future career because I hope to travel to new places in my future career and work for an international firm.

What advice do you have for future study abroad students?
I would say be comfortable with being uncomfortable. You will be in a completely new place and culture, and there may be a chance that you don’t speak the local language. Don’t let this intimidate you since you have the opportunity to learn so many new things while you’re in this new place. Take advantage of all of the new things around you, and whenever you’re not in class, use the opportunity to travel and sightsee!

What is a concern that you had before departing on your program? How did you overcome it?
I was concerned about the fact that I was going to France, yet I did not know any French. I had never been to a country where I don’t speak the language, so I was nervous about making my way around and being independent. However, I overcame this because I traveled with a group of NCSU students, so I always had company, and I observed the local people and took social cues from them whenever it was appropriate.
