Freshman Italian Track Concentration: To Be Determined
I chose NC State’s IBDD Program because it provides a unique opportunity to immerse myself in a new language and apply it in a real-world context within the target country. As someone already bilingual in English and Spanish, learning Italian will expand my cultural horizons and deepen my understanding of diverse global cultures. I eagerly anticipate forging connections not only within the United States but also within the rich tapestry of Italian culture. Moreover, I am enthusiastic about advancing my education within International Business at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore to maximize my future opportunities.”
Advice: “Take risks and dive right in. In this program, you’ll encounter numerous opportunities that might appear daunting initially. Nevertheless, the rewards are truly worth it.”

“I chose NC State and the IBDD program because I’ve always wanted to study abroad and NC State gives me the chance to do that. I get to learn more about other cultures, languages and people and I also want to learn a new language as I’m already fluent in English and Spanish. I am looking forward to studying abroad, the opportunities that come with it and the people that I’ll meet. The IBDD program will help me achieve my goals as I would not only learn how business is managed in another country but I would gain a lot of experience as I’ll have done two internships by the time I graduate. My advice is if you would like to study abroad, take the chance and be willing to work hard for you to experience the opportunities that this program offers you.”

“After living in Brazil for four years and becoming fluent in Portuguese, I knew I wanted to live abroad again and experience new cultures. NC State’s IBDD program gave me this opportunity and so much more. Being able to live abroad and learn about a new culture and simultaneously learn about the business world in a new country is an amazing and unique experience. During my time in the IBDD program, I look forward to gaining a versatile education and building a global network. I’m also looking forward to getting closer with my fellow IBDD students and living in Madrid. This program will help me achieve my career goals by equipping me with a unique blend of business and cultural skills, which will be valuable for the rest of my life. Some advice I would give to prospective IBDD students is to take advantage of your AP and DE courses in high school. The more you take the better! Also, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. You will gain so much out of this!”

“When I found out about the Italian track for IBDD, I was immediately intrigued. I had taken 3 years of Spanish in high school, but I had always wanted to study abroad in Italy. With the IBDD Italian track, I was able to start with a low level of Italian and use my existing knowledge of Spanish, to learn the new language. The unique part of the IBDD program is being able to live in another country and gain international business experience through the internships, all while having the experience of a lifetime! I can’t wait for this opportunity because I know it will push me academically, socially, and professionally, and will ultimately prepare me for a career in international business, like no other program can. My advice for prospective students is to take dual enrollment/ AP/ IB courses throughout high school and reach out to others in the program for support! Keep an open mind and have fun!”

Sophomore Spanish Track Concentration: Marketing
All my life, I’ve been lucky enough to have had exposure to cultures different from mine. The more knowledge I gained, the more passionate I was about learning about the world outside of my own. The IBDD program instantly caught my eye because I’ve dreamed of traveling and living in that world. I am most looking forward to getting out of my comfort zone: Meeting new people, practicing different traditions, learning new things, gaining experiences, and constantly changing my perspective and outlook. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for me personally as well as academically and professionally. To be fluent in multiple languages, to have connections with others outside of the US, to have had previous involvement in different countries, and to gain skills I wouldn’t otherwise have gained are just a few things I would have under my belt. Never be afraid to reach out to the people inside the program. That includes the students as well as Mr. Sandruck!

I have always loved traveling, and I knew I wanted to study abroad in college. I chose the IBDD program because it gives me the opportunity to go to Germany for 2 years, instead of just 1 or 2 semesters, and to expand upon my knowledge of the German language and culture. I am excited to learn more about the world, and I believe that this program will best prepare me for a career in international business. My best advice for prospective IBDD students is to be willing to work hard for the amazing experience this program offers, and to reach out to the staff and other students in IBDD for anything you may need.

“I chose NC State because I heard so much about how welcoming the community is. Even though there are so many students here, finding your community here has made it feel very small and special. I heard about the IBDD and I was immediately interested! I have always loved the French language since I started learning it as a kid, and IBDD seemed like a great way to not only combine my love for French and interest in business, but it also seemed like a great way to experience a new culture, and an exciting way to find a community here at State. IBDD will help me achieve my career goals as well with the opportunity to experience how business works in France. I can expand my interest in international management, especially since I’m interested in the differences in marketing strategies between cultures. As well as giving me the opportunity to learn at very well respected schools.”
