Bio

Jorge Mejia is an associate professor of information technology, analytics and operations at NC State’s Poole College of Management. An interdisciplinary scholar at the intersection of information systems, operations management and data science, he studies how information, transparency and analytics shape behavior and resource allocation on digital platforms and in operational systems, including how they can improve performance and expose hidden costs or inequities. Combining experiments and econometrics, his research spans digital-platform governance, service operations, public health and supply chains, and humanitarian operations. His work has appeared in Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, Nature Communications and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. He was recognized by the INFORMS Information Systems Society with the Gordon B. Davis Young Scholar Award and the Bapna-Ghose Social Justice Best Paper Award. Before joining NC State, he was an associate professor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in information systems from the University of Maryland and M.S. and B.S. degrees from Georgia Tech.
