Peter Janca is a technology executive with experience in global product management, strategy development, and change leadership at IBM, Cisco Systems, and GE.  His results include increasing profitability, diagnosing and fixing organizations, and building customer-centric products in record times.  Peter applies this experience to his teaching at NC State’s College of Management, where he introduces graduate scientists and engineers to the intricacies of business.  He has served as Chair of the University-wide Standing Committee on Extension, Engagement, and Economic Development.

He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering, and an MBA.  He is active in local professional societies, such as the North Carolina Distance Learning Association, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Project Management Institute, and the Product Development and Management Association.
His publications include, “Pragmatic Application of Information Agents”, “Groupware, a Technical Tutorial”, and “Comparing the two PBX-to-Computer Specifications”.

Peter’s field of study focuses on expanding access to advanced education beyond the walls of the University.  As such, he has been a leader in the application of distance education tools and techniques to interactive business learning via Engineering Online, and via post-graduate, non-degree programs.  These programs also recognize the varying degrees of student experience, the limited amounts of student time, and the challenge of developing collaborative skills in a virtual environment.
