Bio

Amir Mehr has worked in the financial services industry since 1992. Mehr is currently a Managing Director for Barclays Bank, responsible for the Portfolio Management Unit. As part of this role, he is responsible for optimization strategies and/or risk mitigation strategies to support and enhance lending growth while managing risk through the use of the capital markets. This also includes identifying market opportunities using a data led approach that can provide solutions to customers while maximizing use of balance sheet and credit capacity.

Prior to joining Barclays, Mehr worked for Kensington Mortgages which was acquired by Barclays in 2023. He served as the Portfolio Strategy, Credit and Analytics Director while also sitting on the Executive Committee and the company board. Mehr was responsible for credit strategy and portfolio strategy for the business growing the business to becoming the largest non bank lender in the UK. He and his team were also responsible for developing and maintaining the various analytics tools used for funding, operations and portfolio acquisitions for the group.

Prior to that, Mehr’s experience was primarily in fixed-income capital markets with investment banks in New York and London, where he worked as a managing director responsible for structuring.

Mehr currently also serves as a lecturer for North Carolina State University teaching a course in capital markets. He also serves on the Poole College of Management Advisory Board and is a trustee for Ravenscroft School in Raleigh NC.

Mehr grew up in New Jersey before enrolling at NC State University, where he received a B.A. in accounting in 1992. He also received his MBA from New York University Stern School of Business in 1999.
