While studying at the ESB Business School at Reutlingen University, students gain exposure to one of the world’s most prominent economies and identify its role within the European and global context. Students can also explore the culture of Germany by visiting nearby cities such as Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Tübingen, and Munich. In addition, participants have the opportunity to visit multinational corporations to see business in action.

Academics
ACC 220 | Introduction to Managerial Accounting
The course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of managerial accounting concepts and a brief overview of corporate income tax concepts. Students will analyze accounting data that are useful in managerial decision making and in the control and evaluation of the decisions made within business organizations. The course will also provide an introduction to basic models, financial statement analysis, cost behavior analysis and cost control procedures.
BUS 320 | Financial Management
Financial decision making by businesses, including capital structure and dividend decisions, capital budgeting and working capital management. Basic financial concepts are covered such as risk and return measurement, portfolio theory and the time value of money.
M 380 | Doing Business in Germany
This experiential course combines in-class learning with out-of-classroom experiences to learn how business is done in Germany from multiple perspectives.
*The M 380 course fulfills 3 credits of the interdisciplinary degree requirements for all NC State students. In addition, it counts as an elective for the business administration minor.
Pre-Requisites
Students must have completed the following courses to be eligible to take ACC 220 and BUS 320:
ACC 210 | Concepts of Financial Accounting
Pre-requisites must be successfully completed before the start of the program. Students are able to apply to the program before they are enrolled in or while they are enrolled in the pre-requisite course. Acceptance to the program is conditional on the student enrolling in the pre-requisite and then successfully completing the course before the start of the program.
If a student fails the pre-requisite course and is not able to repeat the course before the start of the program, he or she will be required to withdraw from the program and the refund/withdrawal policy will come into effect. Exceptions to the refund/withdrawal policy will not be made due to a student’s failure to pass the pre-requisite course.
Academic Considerations
- Students with a GPA of 2.5 or higher are eligible to apply for a Poole College of Management summer study abroad program.
- All courses are NC State courses and the grade earned in the course will count toward NC State GPA.
- Review your degree audit to determine how courses will count for your major or minor. This program is designed for Poole majors and minors but all NC State students, who meet the prerequisites, are welcome to apply.
