Bio

Carly Burd joins the Poole College of Management from Boston University, where she spent five years as a Ph.D. student and received her doctorate degree in accounting in May 2023. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Burd worked in Mergers and Acquisitions Tax in the PwC Boston office. Her professional experience informs her research in the areas of corporate taxation and trade policy with emphasis on tax disclosures, capital markets, and the interaction between tariffs and business decisions.

Burd received both her BA in Accounting and Master in Accounting: Taxation from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville.
