Poole’s Commencement Participation Policy

The Poole College of Management hosts commencement ceremonies twice per year in alignment with NC State’s commencement ceremonies. This page outlines options for participation in the Poole College commencement ceremony and corresponding recognitions.

The Poole College ceremony hosted at the end of the Spring term (May) recognizes graduates who complete their degree requirements in the Spring term. The Poole College ceremony hosted at the end of the Fall term (December) recognizes graduates who complete their degree requirements in the Summer or Fall terms.

Students may participate in the Poole College commencement ceremony in a given term provided that:

  1. Have met all degree requirements (Official Term Participation), or
  2. Have 8 or fewer units remaining for degree completion in the subsequent term (Early Term Participation)

Student recognitions including notation of involvement and achievements in the Poole College commencement program and the opportunity to participate as the Poole College student speaker vary depending on whether the student is participating in their Official Term or in an Early Term.  The chart below outlines these variances.
