Academics

  • Review and choose a concentration (for business administration majors)
    • Discuss concentration options with a faculty member in the concentrations which interest you
  • If you are considering Graduate School, begin to prepare for your applications
    • Research the degree options available at various universities – look for faculty whose work sounds interesting to you
    • Become familiar with admissions requirements, application procedures, timelines, and funding opportunities
    • Enroll in any prerequisites required for your target program
    • Complete Practice Tests (GRE, GMAT, etc.)

How are you using your time at NC State to develop in the following areas:

  • Meet with a Poole Career Coach to fine-tune your resume and conduct a mock interview
  • Register and submit your resume on ePack for internship and full-time positions
  • Attend the Poole College of Management Career Fairs
  • Set up or update your LinkedIn profile
  • Prepare a reference list of employers, faculty, mentors, etc.
  • Refer to the Junior year checklist in the Poole Career Guide (PDF opens in a new tab)

  • Attend a more advanced workshop through one of the University Centers 
  • Find a student organization with an inclusive initiative and volunteer to help execute their project
  • Apply to be an Orientation Leader for incoming students- consider the Multicultural Symposium mentors and LGBT symposium mentors for specific groups of interest
  • Apply to be an athletic tutor
  • Start a tutoring program for struggling students in your concentration

  • Join and become active in major-related student organizations
  • Consider taking a leadership position within a student organization or volunteer group
