Student Advisory Board

Mission

Help administrators enhance the student experience through immersive real-world opportunities such as more practicums and internships, regular mentoring and other career-preparation initiatives.

Members

The board consists of 17 undergraduate students who give feedback on how Poole moves forward with initiatives to remain vibrant and competitive in the changing higher education landscape. Membership on the advisory board provides students with valuable leadership opportunities that could help them as they start their careers.

New member applications are open until 5 p.m. on March 4, and new members will be announced on April 1.

Leadership

Julianna Lopez

Academics: senior, accounting major, philosophy minor, analytics concentration

Involvement: member, Poole College Ambassador; chairman, Student Media Board; past vice president and treasurer, Beta Alpha Psi; member, University Honors Program and AIR Program 

Internship: financial audit intern, U.S Government Accountability Office; auditing intern, PwC

Future Plans: Jenkins Masters of Accounting Program to sit for the CPA exams, hopes to pursue a career as a governmental auditor and obtain CPA license

Yahir Sanchez Vazquez

Academics: sophomore, business administration major, marketing concentration

Involvement: vice president, ALPFA; financial officer, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc

Internship: summer analyst, Accenture

Future Plans: masters in accounting, hopefully at NC State

Kylie Batcha

Academics: senior, business administration major, IT concentration, statistics minor

Outside of class: music, antiquing, reading, thrifting

Lindsay Carter

Academics: senior, business administration major, IT and finance concentration, economics minor 

Involvement: past president, current external vice president, Filipino American Student Association; president, Poole Council; co-finance director, Platform Magazine 

Internship: financial accounting and reporting intern, Compass Group USA; IT audit intern, Invisalign; commercial analytic intern, Invisalign; business analytics intern, E15 Group – San Francisco 49ers

Future Plans: volunteer in the Philippines this summer, pursue a master’s in data science

Zachary Criddle

Academics: senior, business administration, finance concentration 

Involvement: member, NC State Club Lacrosse, Bell Tower Capital Management, Finance Club, Founder of Investment Banking Club and NC State Stock Pitching Group

Internship: investment banking merger & acquisition intern 

Future Plans: position within investment banking mergers & acquisitions, specialized in pharmaceuticals

Landon Hong

Academics: senior, business administration major, entrepreneurship concentration, PRT minor

Involvement: Pi Kappa Phi fraternity; practice player, NC State Women’s Basketball 

Internship: Brand Marketing Manager Intern with NASCAR summer 2024

Outside of class: enjoys fishing and editing videos

Hannah Jackson

Academics: senior, business administration major, marketing concentration, graphic communications and art & design minor.

Involvement: fellow, University Honors Program; Treasurer for Poole Student Advisory Board; student worker for Associate Dean Anand

Internship: marketing intern, Atlantic Packaging; intern for Scott Insurance

Outside of class: enjoys going for long walks, everything beach painting, and is an avid reader

Arwa Jalakh

Academics: senior, business administration major, IT concentration

Involvement: member, American Marketing Association and Supply Chain Club

Internship: Data Analysis Intern at The Gregg Museum of Art and Design

Outside of class: enjoys crocheting, baking, playing pickleball, and reading

Hannah Justice

Academics: Junior, accounting, minoring in psychology

Involvement: member of Beta Alpha Psi

Future Plans: I would like to work in fraud/money laundering investigation

Outside of class: In my downtime, I enjoy bouldering, archery, and reading

Ria Kapuria

Future Plans: obtain a job in supply chain logistics in Washington D.C. 

Adams Neus

Academics: senior, business administration major, finance concentration, Spanish minor

Involvement: secretary, alumni relations, Phi Delta Theta fraternity

Internship: intern, First Citizens Bank

Future Plans: hopes to move to New York to pursue a career in finance

Jon Pogatchnik

Academics: junior, business administration major, finance concentration, accounting minor

Internship: intern, Baune Finance during summer 2023; intern, The Great River Company during summer 2024; intern, Lazard during summer 2025

Outside of class: enjoys golfing, skiing, and researching new investment opportunities

Julia Scruggs

Internship: intern, The Scout Guide of Raleigh 

Outside of class: enjoys cooking, going to the beach, snow skiing, and playing tennis and pickle-ball

David Stiles

Academics: junior, accounting major

Involvement:  alumni, Impact Leadership Village

Future Plans: obtain a masters degree in accounting, eventually take the CPA exam

Gladys Taylor

Academics: senior, business administration major, finance concentration

Involvement: Poole Ambassador Poole, Career Coach, 1887 Scholar

Internship: intern with the Real Estate Development Center

Future Plans: I hope to make the most of my time here by trying new things and networking with those in my industry

Kearns Trotter

Academics: sophomore, business administration major, finance concentration, accounting minor

Involvement: member, University Honors Program, Student Leadership Team and The Summit Church 

Future Plans: pursue a MS in education administration after graduation, hopes to eventually work as an assistant superintendent or superintendent 

Outside of class: enjoys pickleball, basketball, and spending time with family and friends

Dorienne Young

Internship: IT consultant intern, NC State College of Sciences; IT SaaS Hosting, Nintendo of America Inc.; intern, Project Management Lite Program with NC State IT Office

Future Plans: plans to receive higher education in global technology development and get a career in big tech
